The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation

The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation is a non-profit that teaches, coaches, and inspires people and organizations to solve pressing problems and change how communities work together. Founded by Rich Harwood in 1988, the Institute partners with some of the world's largest nonprofits and their tools and frameworks have spread to all 50 states in the U.S., across Australia and Canada, and have been used by individuals in more than 40 countries worldwide.

The Harwood Institute develops individuals in a practice called Turning Outward - using the community, not your conference room, as the reference point for your choices and judgments.

Through in-person and online training, The Harwood Institute provides orientation, practices and tools to individuals so that they can make choices and work with others to create change. In addition to training, the Institute provides freely available tools and resources to help you turn outward.

This forum is open to anyone who participated in any of the three cohorts or has undergone Harwood training.  This is an open environment where you are encouraged to share, ask for advice, and collaborate. The intention is for you to learn from one another and make more informed and intentional choices with your engagement activities. As a cohort we are striving to make our communities stronger by creating deeper connections between our libraries and our communities. Our collective mind and shared experience will benefit from everyone’s participation.

This forum is open to only 2017 cohort members who are meeting Cheryl for their coaching calls.  This is where you will find information from the coaching calls, including documents and links.
